Many people face stress and anxiety in their lives but sometimes when you are constantly facing these things, it can be a mental disorder. There are some people that have poor brain health, and they have to take medicines to help to boost their moods.

Beyond medicine though, there are things that you can do to get rid of some of your stress and anxiety. You can meditate, be mindful of your thoughts and beyond that, there are foods that you can eat to boost your brain and to help keep your body healthy.

Salmon

One great food to help you to get rid of stress and anxiety is salmon. This food contains omega-3 fatty acids and can help to regulate the neurotransmitters and the dopamine that can help you to be relaxed.

Other studies show that it can also prevent inflammation and can prevent cell dysfunction in the brain. If you eat good amounts of EPA and DHA which is found in salmon, it can take way the stressors in your brain and help you to be calm.

Eating salmon three times a week for five months can reduce stress in your life.

Chamomile

The herb chamomile is a great herb that can get rid of inflammation and has high amounts of antioxidants.

Studies have proven that it can relieve stress and can help to get rid of GAD which is a generalized anxiety disorder.

People that eat chamomile often can relax better and if they do it for eight weeks or more, it has proven to reduce depression. Many people use it as a tea.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a spice that has curcumin which can give you strong brain health and get rid of anxiety.

Some animal tests showed that it can boost your omega 3-fatty acid DHA which helps to synthesize your body.

Taking 20 mg of curcumin can help to get rid of anxiety and stress and can keep your body and brain strong.

Curcumin has been shown to increase antioxidants in your body and can be used in your foods.

Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate can get rid of anxiety. It helps your blood to flow better and can take stress out of your life.

When you have to face stressful situations, eating dark chocolate can help you to deal with it and if you have mood disorders, eating dark chocolate two times a day for two weeks can help to reduce stress.

Eating dark chocolate has also been proven to increase neurotransmitters serotonin which can take away stress and help to reduce anxiety. This also has been proven to cause people to not overeat as much.

Yogurt

Yogurt has probiotics which can give you healthy bacteria in your body. It can help your overall health and your mental wellbeing.

Some studies have proven that yogurt can promote brain function by inhibiting free radicals and neurotoxins which can cause nerve tissue problems and lead to anxiety.

One study showed that people that ate yogurt were less stressed and that they had better brain functions. Yogurt is great because of the probiotics and the active cultures in the ingredients.

Green Tea

One great thing is green tea. It has L-theanine which is an amino acid that will help to reduce stress and anxiety and can help to keep the brain healthy.

A study showed that people that ate L-theanine will help to reduce psychological stress and reduce anxiety.

Another study showed that eating L-theanine will decrease cortisol which leads to stress. This ingredient helps the nerves to not be as excited.

Tea is one of the most researched foods and the amount of stress that it can relieve can be amazing. This is a great food to add to your diet because it contains EGCG which is an antioxidant.

Anti-Anxiety Foods

Other foods that are great to fight anxiety include:

  • Turkey, oats, and bananas which contain tryptophan an amino acid that relieves anxiety.
  • Dairy products and eggs contain protein that helps to produce serotonin and neurotransmitters to improve mental health.
  • Chia seeds have omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Citrus fruits and peppers promote antioxidants and prevent cell damage.
  • Almonds are great because they have vitamin E.
  • Blueberries can help to improve the mental health and brain activity.

There are many foods that can help to reduce stress and anxiety in your life. Many of the studies have been done in laboratories on animals or other ways in order to prove that these foods are great to help fight against mental health and stress.
