What does it mean when you think about loving yourself? There are different reasons that we have for being able to love others more than we love ourselves. Sometimes we hate ourselves and we are very critical of everything that we do. We allow ourselves to be in toxic relationships and to hurt ourselves and we forget to look at the goodness inside of us.
No matter because you don’t love yourself, you have to figure out how to change that. Loving who you are isn’t a selfish thing like some people think. Not only will this make you love yourself more, but you will also be able to be in better and healthier relationships.
You are who you will always be with and so you need to learn to love and recognize yourself. You need to look at your good traits. Having a healthy relationship with yourself will help you to develop who you are.
Here are some ways that you can learn to love yourself more:
- Knowing Who You Are
You need to learn who you are. How can you love someone that you don’t know?
- Say No
You can learn to form boundaries and say no when you don’t want to do something. You should be respected and respect yourself.
- Stop Comparing
Never compare what you do with other people. There will always be someone better and someone worse than you. Accept yourself for who you are.
- Be Present
Stop letting life distract you and learn to know who you are. Read positive things and learn to be mindful.
- Strengths
We all have good things that we can do, and we are good at some things that others aren’t. Know what you are good at and focus on these positive things.
- Treat Yourself
Learn to treat yourself to things that you love. Reward yourself for good things or just because you want to.

Always be honest with yourself and what is going on. Honesty is important in all relationships, even the ones with yourself.

Forgive yourself when you make a mistake. Don’t be hard on yourself and give yourself some slack to be a human. Everyone makes mistakes and you have to forgive yourself.

Go out and exercise and eat healthy foods. Get enough sleep and do not do drugs or drink alcohol.

Find things that you love to do in your life. Go out and take a class or do a cooking seminar.

Set boundaries and do not let others put you down. Love yourself and value yourself and make others value you as well.

Take time to write yourself a love letter about what you like about yourself.

If you need help, ask for it. This means you know that you have weaknesses. We all have them.

Learn to talk kindly to yourself and stop putting yourself down. Learn how to say nice things without calling yourself names or criticizing what you are doing.

Let people in your life that are going to love you and care for you. There are good people that can feed goodness into you. Stay away from toxic relationships.
- Have Down Time
We are all too busy and we need down time. Do not feel guilty if you need to have a break or take time with yourself, alone. Learn to care for yourself and do what you can to be healthy in your mind and body.
